Elbow Macaroni

Lucas loves to play in our kitchen cupboards. Perhaps it is the Bug's love of food that draws him to the cupboards. Or perhaps it is the terribly annoying sound the metal cans make when hitting the floor that puts a smile on his face. Whatever the reason, kitchen cupboard playing is a pastime we have tried to eliminate. So I certainly did not let Lucas open the kitchen cupboard so I could have a few free minutes to unload the dishwasher (another favorite Lucas activity these days). And I certainly was not naive enough to think he wouldn't make too much of a mess in the mere minutes it took me to unload the dishwasher. No, that would have been silly on my part, because I know how much trouble a toddler can get into in a very short period of time.

Lately, Lucas has gotten pretty bored with the gazillion toys he has strewn about the living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. When he is in one of his moods of discontent, I don't let him toddle into the bathroom, open my drawer and pull out scads of tampons to play with, knowing it will keep him occupied for a good 20 minutes. And I most certainly do not let him open those tampons and take them out of the wrappers. That would be a little strange. And I really don't let him wander around the house with a tampon sticking out of his pursed lips as if it were a lit cigar. No way! I would never do that!

On Saturday evening, I did not talk my husband into a Dairy Queeen run after we had both been complaining about our unhealthy eating habits and lack of exercise. And I most certainly did not order the DQ Tagalong Peanut Butter Patties Blizzard, which is probably one of the most unhealthy ice cream treats on the menu! And I really didn't enjoy every single last bite of it!

And I did not cover the smelly spit up Lucas burped onto our bed after a giggling fit with a towel rather than take the sheets off the bed and replace them with clean ones on Saturday night. No way! That would be lazy on my part and just a little bit gross. There is no way I would do something like that.
