Goals

Goodbye, January...hello, February; one month of 2012 already complete.  I'm happy to say I am making good progress on my goals.

~ Sewing - I found it overwhelming in 8th grade home economics, and I find it overwhelming now.  It is safe to say that I am about ten steps behind everyone else in class on Monday nights.  On a positive note, I can thread a machine.  And I did complete a cloth napkin last weekend.  It might not be pretty, the stitching might not be straight, and there might be many visible flaws in the finished product, but I can say I finished something.

~ Project Life - I love it!  I'm taking pictures almost every day and getting them into my album every week.  There really is nothing more I can say about PL except it is completely inspiring and awesome, and I see myself doing this project for many, many years to come.

~ Getting in Shape - I decided to follow Hal Higdon's novice 5k program as I kick off my quest to get in shape.  I started week five of the eight week training program this week, and I am happy to say I haven't missed a run yet.  I'm still huffing and puffing and have to really convince myself to get on the treadmill, but it is getting easier than it was a month ago.

~ Organizing Our House - Okay...this goal probably saw the least amount of progress this month.  I did manage to sift through and organize three drawers in the kitchen, though, so that must count for something.  And I have great intentions to organize many more spaces this year.

A New Year Means New Goals

Yep...I have a lot of them for 2012.

~ Sewing - The idea of wanting to learn how to sew has been lingering in my mind for a while now.  It was confirmed on Thursday evening when I picked Lucas up from school and found a big tear in his snow pants with stuffing coming out.  We made a quick trip to Stitch It to get those pants fixed, and I probably paid as much for the hemming as I did for the pants.  As luck would have it, I received a deal on sewing classes through a flash deal site and will begin my sewing adventure at Make It Sew next Monday night.

~ Project Life - I so admire Becky Higgins and Ali Edwards and their philosophy on documenting life's moments...both big and small.  So, I am going to tackle Project Life this year.  I am not committing to a picture a day but definitely several pictures a week with journaling.

~ Getting in Shape - It's hard to believe I used to run daily and used to consider 10-miles a short run.  These days, I am huffing and puffing after one measly mile. I would like the end of 2012 to bring a Tote that can run 6-10 miles without dying.

~ Organizing Our House - Space is tight in our little home. Leo and I watched a few episodes of Hoarders over the holiday weekend and while we don't have a house that is crammed to the roof with boxes of stuff and mice or bug infested because there is so much junk, it is definitely time to de-clutter and get rid of the things we no longer need or use. It is going to be a time consuming project and tends to overwhelm me (because I hold on to things), but we are bursting at the seams here so something (or many things) has to go!

It has been easy for me to dream big while having this week off of work.  We will see how well I tackle these goals once real life begins on Tuesday when I return to "work outside the home" mode.
