Photo Challenge - Furry Pet Faces

The photo challenge this week on I Heart Faces is furry pet faces.  I immediately thought of this picture of my sweet Lily.

Our Little, White Pup

She doesn't get nearly enough attention on this blog...this little, white pup of ours who has been walking around the house with Hershey's chocolate syrup smeared onto her head for the past two weeks. She puts up with a lot of nonsense these days.

Help

Lucas loves to help us around the house these days...vacuuming, emptying the dishwasher and feeding Lily. I always encourage and praise Lucas when he is helping us, even when that help means Lily gets about 10 times more dog food than she should and that food is scattered all over the kitchen and hallway floors and floating in her water. It just makes for a little more clean-up for mom and dad!

Dogs

Our weekend can be summed up by the word dogs. I remember when I thought it would be fun to have two or three dogs. Thank goodness my dear husband talked me out of that crazy idea. Two westies, one flat-coated retriever and one toddler are too much for one townhouse, especially two westies that like to bark, a flat-coated retriever that likes to eat anything left within his reach and a 33-week pregnant woman who doesn't seem to have an overabundance of patience these days. Fortunately, the only casualty of the weekend was a pair of Lucas' socks eaten by yours truly (the retriever, not me, although I do eat pretty much anything and everything these days). I guess he enjoyed the smell and taste of Lucas' sweaty feet. Our furry friends will be leaving us today to head back to their respective homes. This may disappoint Lucas who loves to proclaim "No-kay" each time Noche enters the room, but Leo and I will enjoy the return to normalcy.

Lily

She spends her days lounging on the back of the couch and her evenings barking loudly, attacking the television annoyingly, hogging the bed at night and going to the bathroom in our house.

I wouldn't trade her for the world...

... but Leo might.

Stop, Drop and Put Your Head Down

We have been dog sitting my parents's wild Westie, Kayli Kenna, this week. Kayli and Lily are the best of friends. Unlike Lily, Kayli tends to be a baby stalker. She just can't give Lucas enough puppy kisses. He has quickly learned how to block her advances with a stop, drop and put your head down technique.

Edward Scissor Hands

Leo ventured into new territory today, grooming Lily himself. Just look at those scissors go...

Here is a picture of the finished product:

And a close-up of Lily's face:

Beautiful!

Other news to report (in addition to my husband's new profession)...

Lucas is cutting two top teeth.

Happy Birthday, Lily!

Lily turned three today. Apparently, she thought she could do anything she wanted since it was her birthday, including poop on the living room floor. Even though she was a stinker, we still had a little party for her tonight.

Lucas says, "Don't be sad, Lily. I promise mama bought you some presents."

"See...you got a Phat Flossie."

"And a Frosty Paw. Hmmm...I wonder if puppy ice cream tastes as good as people ice cream??? I wouldn't mind trying a little."

"If you won't share with me, then I will just steal your birthday hat. I know I can chew on that."

"Happy Birthday, Lily!"

Lily's New Dinnerware

Lily is notorious for tipping her food dish over and scattering her food all over the kitchen, dining room and living room floors. This is the scene Leo and I often come home too. It may be difficult to tell from this picture, but there is food all over the kitchen and spread out into the hall. This is actually pretty tame compared to the mess we usually find. We finally decided to take matters into our own hands.

Check out Lily's new tip-proof dinnerware. She nudged it once or twice but, as promised, the bowls did not tip over. I think we may have nipped this nasty habit in the bud! And Lily appears to enjoy eating from her new, ergonomically friendly dinnerware!

Spring Has Sprung

We FINALLY had some nice weather this weekend and decided it was time to break out the "big boy" stroller for Lucas. He seemed to enjoy being carseat free. And Lily loved getting two walks today!

Trick or Treat

Leo had so much fun carving a pumpkin on Sunday, he decided to start an annual pumpkin carving tradition with Lucas.

Lucas was pretty upset when we told him he was too young to go trick or treating this year! As a result, he cried throughout most of the pumpkin carving.

Lily took much more interest in the pumpkin than Lucas did!

The finished pumpkin...before Lily sunk her little teeth into it!

Poo

Yesterday I learned what is meant by the term "blow-out." Lucas and I were rushing out the door for a doctor appointment (it's impossible to get anywhere timely these days), when I heard a suspicious rumble from down under. I picked Lucas up and found poo EVERYWHERE! Of course dad wasn't home to help with this diaper change!

Unfortunately, Lily decided she wanted to join in on the poo fun. Last week Lily spent most of her time moping around the house. This week Lily is doing whatever she can to drive mom crazy. Yesterday was no exception. After getting back from the doctor's office, I found a big pile of Lily poo in the living room and another pile of Lily poo in the nursery. Lily, of course, showed no remorse but followed me around the house with a wagging tail while I scrubbed the carpet. I guess she showed me for leaving her home!

Lilypad

Lily has been staying at Grandma and Grandpa Totland's since last weekend. We miss our little girl, but she is in good hands and has been getting lots of Westie playtime with my parent's pup, Kayli. Grandma and Grandpa were nice enough to bring Lily to the groomers yesterday as she was starting to look pretty shaggy. Thank you, Mom and Dad! Lily is looking good!!
